Research task- I feel it all by Fiest

Students work:

Original Video:

How do they differ? They've used similar lighting, and similar ideas to the storyline. However the students work has used more colour and a wider variety of different shot rather than the other film was more in long shots and very similar shots.

Editing - There is a variety of different lighting within the first minute in the students work, and used of jump cuts in various occasions. Where as in the original video the main use is on one shot of the girl running through fire work with natural light but one light on her face to make it clearer.

Scenes - The students work has represented use of narrative a performance with lip syncing and illustrates  whats going on with the lyrics, the video shows as if they are having an audition. Where as the original is just a good feeling video showing a woman running through fireworks.

Mise-en-scene - there is a wide difference in both the videos. Students have more detail within there in a dark room like its a audition. And the other video has chosen for no narrative and one long shot to just make the audience feel good about themselves and to just let people enjoy watching it.

Ideas for Videos

Our ideas for The Lazy Song - Bruno Mars fit in with the theme of the song. One of our main ideas is to use the Green Screen that is available at college and make the background colourful as seen in the following video.

Another idea that we had was to have lyrics printed on t-shirts and use still images to make each lyric appear on a t-shirt as it it sang. We would take pictures of each frame and make it look jolty and not like it was filmed. However this won't be for a large portion of the video as there would be too many videos.

Video marking criteria

Level 3

The candidate is expected to demonstrate proficiency in the creative use of most of the following technical skills. (24 - 31 marks)

Level 4

The candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence in the creative use of most of the following technical skills. (32 - 40 marks)

We feel that group S2-30 made good use of the green room and edits of colour and having multiple frames at once. However, we think that compared to the other group, this piece is level 3 as the other group showed a better understanding of the task and managed to balance a story with shots of the band and used many more conventions.
